Winter is upon us once again...so

Here are some new pics...finally!! There is not much wildlife activity here in the summer months. But once the winter weather sets in it can get pretty busy around here! Some of the pictures I just posted are duplicates...I cropped them so you could have a closer view.

I think this is gross....

but Al doesn't!! He went out hunting mid morning this morning and got this within the first 20 minutes. I had to take the pictures and was a little grossed out!! Sorry if this is too graphic...if you don't want to see the pictures don't scroll down. There's no blood or anything gross like that, just a limp, lifeless bird.

Where did my pictures go?

Well I sure don't know what happened to all my pictures...there seems to be many red X's. Sigh!! I don't think I moved them from the server or moved them into a new album or anything that would affect the URL. I'll have to check into that and see if I can fix the problem. Maybe it's something going on with Blogger...don't know!!

I did a little research...it seems that there was some work being done in Picasa...the program that blogger uses to manage the photo uploads. Hope the pictures return properly and soon!!

Deer Meets Turkeys...

Yesterday afternoon we were treated to this...cool!! Al quickly grabbed his turkey call and went out in the backyard so they couldn't see him. When the deer take off running it's because of the turkey call. Watch the deer around the 1:12 mark...one of the deer kicks the other one.

Make sure you have your speakers turned up...the turkeys got quite vocal!!

Sorry this video is a bit shaky but Sarah was walking while filming trying to get a little closer. Anyways, at the 17 second mark if you listen very carefully you'll hear one of the deer to her right, that you can't see, snort at Sarah. So turn up your volume.

Deer Video...

I'll be trying to capture some action between the deer. I've managed to get lots of still shots but never think to try to get it on video. Of course tonight they didn't get into it much...that's cause I was filming. I edited this part of a longer video to show the big white fluffy tail on one of the deer.

aren't they!!! Sometimes they share...sometimes they don't.

I took this picture a few minutes ago from the playroom window. I thought it was pretty neat. Wild turkeys are quite beautiful when they spread their wings and you're able to see what they actually look like.

More turkey pictures....

I took these pictures yesterday. The turkey's were quite close to the house so I grabbed my camera and stepped outside. They didn't seem to be too spooked so I just kept walking along and followed them for a bit. I wish I could have gotten closer and been able to take some shots from a better angle. Unfortunately the light source never seems to be at the proper angle.

Quick Post to add some more photos...

Just posting some photos I took a few minutes ago...to show the buck with just one antler. We'll have to go for a walk and see if we can find some more antlers in the bush to add to our collection.

I cropped and lightened the picture of the large buck so you could have a closer look. It doesn't show in the picture but he only has 9 points.

Fooling around in photoshop...

Just thought I'd post this too. I was fooling around in photoshop and thought this turned out kinda neat.

I haven't posted in ages....

and this year has not been the best year for wildlife around our yard. Our winter had been rather warm and very little snow until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I've managed to get a few new pictures...but no where near what I have been able to get the last few years. I did manage to capture three females actually sharing the feed this year...it matches quite nicely with the pictures of the three bucks I photographed last year.

Here's Bubba Again...

I haven't added any pictures for quite some time now...haven't had any really great picture taking opportunities lately. Here's an older one from earlier this winter. Another view of Bubba...the ten pointer, as he crosses our laneway. I downloaded a photoshop action this evening that automatically does a black and white conversion to your pictures...I tried it out on this one. It may look better on a higher quality photo!
